Three literary superstars share the inspiration for their books and how to give a character a good ending: Holly Ringland, Elizabeth Strout and Jane Harper.

Holly Ringland discusses the many influences of her novel The Seven Skins of Esther Wilding. It follows the success of Holly's debut, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, and weaves together Scandinavian fairy tales, cryptic tattoos, a missing woman, a grieving sister, swans, seals and stars.

The Booker Prize winner is announced this week so it's the last of our shortlist interviews, this time American author Elizabeth Strout discusses the origins of the third novel in her Lucy Barton series Oh William!

Jane Harper's third and final Aaron Falk novel, Exiles, is out and we join Jane in her writing studio to find out about her decision to give Falk a good ending. Also, discover why Jane wears UGG boots while she writes.
